This ministry is an outreach organization dedicated to
developing lay leadership and a spirituality based on the Social Justice
teachings of the Church. We also initiate action on social issues that affect
the parish, the community, the nation and the world.

Parish Outreach Office
Volunteers of this committee
answer outreach phone calls daily and work directly with those in need of
emergency assistance (such as utilities, rent, housing and food).

Sewing Group
Volunteers sew and knit baby items for those in
need throughout the community; they also knit lap blankets for homebound
parishioners.

Meals on Wheels
Members of this ministry deliver hot meals to
the elderly, the physically and/or mentally disabled and to those living alone
with no other means of available support.

Emmanuel Dining Room
Emmanuel Dining Room, located in Wilmington,
provides meals to needy people. Parishioners volunteer to prepare a meal and may
serve the food.

Journey to Justice
This ministry, which is a project of the
Catholic Campaign for Human Development, is dedicated to empowering the poor in
the United States. Volunteers work with the Statewide Association of Tenants (an
independent tenant-led and tenant-directed organization in Delaware) and needy
communities within the area.

Just Faith/Beyond Just Faith
Volunteers participate in the United States
Catholic Conference of Bishops sponsored 30-week conversion-based formation
program on issues of justice and social ministry. Participants are empowered to
organize the community in addressing issues of injustice locally, nationally and
globally.

Respect Life
This ministry promotes and educates the parish
on right-to-life issues, such as abortion, euthanasia, stem cell research, and
the death penalty.

Legislative Issues/Networking
Volunteers study legislative issues and concerns
that center on Catholic social teachings. Through networking agencies, they
inform and promote parish and community action on important issues.
